Our Caring Goes Far Beyond the Boundaries of Your Building

At FirstService Residential New York, we are passionate about giving back to the neighborhoods, friends and neighbors we serve. Our team members live, work and play in the same neighborhoods you do, and we strive to provide service that goes above and beyond every day.

Part of this commitment includes dedicating our resources to help those in need. Both as a company and as individuals, we donate significant time and effort to assisting worthy causes and organizations throughout New York City, as well as those that are national in scope.

To provide financial support to organizations that are meaningful to both our surrounding communities and our associates, we host Jeans Day each month. Associates are invited to wear jeans to work in exchange for a monetary donation towards that month’s designated charity. Those donations are matched by the company to augment the total amount raised.

Jeans Days raised more than $8,000 for charitable causes in 2014. Beneficiary organizations included: Ability Beyond DisabilityAmerican Heart AssociationAlzheimer’s AssociationAmerican Childhood Cancer OrganizationEIF Revlon WalkEngineers Without BordersFamilies of Spinal Muscular AtrophyLee National Denim DayMichael J. Fox Foundation, and National Eating Disorders Association.

In 2014, 30 associates offered their time to assist local communities and residents in need by volunteering for two days with Habitat for Humanity. Our teams headed to Little Ferry, NJ, to help victims of Hurricane Sandy rebuild their homes by assisting with framing, insulation, sheetrock, spackling and painting. FirstService Residential supported this effort with a $3,000 donation to the organization.

This spring our associates volunteered to clean up Red Hook Community Farm in Brooklyn as part of Spring 2015 New York Cares Day. Our team joined other volunteers to paint, spread nearly 10 tons of compost, rake and clean up debris spread across four acres, as well as reorganized the farm’s greenhouse.

In times of disaster, we also spring into action to provide immediate support to our residents and properties. In 2012, Hurricane Sandy – the largest Atlantic hurricane in history – caused significant damage to approximately 200 of our managed properties, and created considerable hardship for residents and their families.

Just a few days after the storm hit, FirstService Residential established a $10 million emergency Hurricane Recovery Fund to help affected residents and properties begin making repairs before their insurance claims were finalized. Thanks to this immediate funding, our residents and their families were able to begin the recovery process and start getting back to their daily lives within days.
